New York Personal Injury Attorney Comments on Possible Wrongful Death Lawsuits Resulting From Road Rage by David Perecman
It isn’t often that a car ride becomes a news story if no injuries or wrongful deaths occur. However, a recent “terror ride” on the Van Wyck Expressway in New York deserves the attention of personal injury attorneys.
As reported by the New York Post, an agitated taxi driver took two people, a tourist and her son, on a frightening 10-minute ride on the Queens, New York highway.
“The prospect of serious injury or wrongful death in this case was highly likely,” said New York personal injury attorney David Perecman.
The ride initiated at New York’s Kennedy Airport, where the driver picked the two riders up. While driving away from the terminal, the driver got upset with the driver of a limo and he began to chase him through traffic. According to police, one person in the back seat of the cab frantically waved for help.
A Port Authority Police Officer noticed the erratic driving and pulled the taxi over, preventing possible wrongful death lawsuits.
The driver was charged with reckless endangerment.
“Unfortunately, you can’t recover compensation for reckless endangerment which is a criminal charge,” said Perecman, a personal injury attorney in New York. “These two people will undoubtedly feel less trusting and unsafe for the rest of their lives.”
