Liability Personal Injury
My lawyer wants my boyfriend insurance info, is he sueing my boyfriend?
Okay, my boyfriend and I were in a car wreck and I ended up breaking some bones in my right hand. I’ve now completed medical treatments for my hand, so I’m thinking this should be over soon. But the last time I called my lawyer, they wanted my boyfriends insurance information. (Liability, personal injury, so on.) Does them wanting that info mean they’re trying to get money from his insurance or just use it to help me out?
NO! They are not sueing your boyfriend. Haha. If his insurance isn’t paying up though, then you SHOULD sue them. He paid for his insurance, they are OBLIGATED to pay for your medical bills. That was the deal he made with them, that’s WHY he pays for insurance, it’s not money down a sinkhole, it has a purpose. They have to pay for your medical bills and if they don’t, you should sue the crap out of them!
You’re boyfriend won’t pay a thing. Same thing happened with me and my friend. She fell asleep at the wheel, got in a one car car accident, I broke my ribs and almost lost an ear, luckily it was sewn back on and looks totally normal. My medical bills were 33,000 dollars. Plus a 3000 dollar MRI. They said they could me 5000 dollars for medical costs.
I was like, are you joking? They were legally responsible for the damages caused by the crash, they just didn’t want to pay. They do anything not to pay even when they agree to it. Haha, no wonder everybody hate’s insurance companies.
Bottom line, I got a 55,000 dollar settlement, from which my lawyer got 17,000, and after he negotiated with my medical insurance provider to lower the amount I had to pay them back, I ended up with 24,000. Don’t know if it was worth the broken ribs though…excruciating just to breathe, and now there’s a permanent cut in my ear. My friend didn’t pay a thing, neither did her father, (the owner and policyholder on the car)
